ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A 54-year-old male was medically evacuated from a cargo ship 30 nautical miles west of Egmont Key, Fla., Thursday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a request for assistance from personnel aboard the Glory Sky after a 54-year-old Polish male experienced difficulty breathing. After consulting with the duty flight surgeon, the watchstanders launched an MH-60 aircraft from Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater to medically evacuate the male.
Upon arriving on scene, the helicopter crew safely hoisted the man and transported him to Tampa General Hospital in Tampa Bay.
