SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — The Coast Guard repatriated a group of 29 migrants Wednesday and 45 migrants Monday to La Romana, Dominican Republic. The repatriated migrants were among 105 migrants (100 Dominicans, three Haitians and two Cubans), who were interdicted by the Coast Guard and Caribbean Border Interagency Group law enforcement authorities during three separate at-sea interdictions in waters between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. HONOLULU — The Coast Guard suspended the active search at sunset, Wednesday, for a man swept out to sea near Kahului, Maui. “Our deepest condolences go out to the family, friends and loved ones effected," said Petty Officer 1st Class Will Cusic, of Coast Guard Sector Honolulu. NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard medevaced a 45-year-old man from the cruise ship Carnival Triumph approximately 11 miles south of Southwest Pass, Louisiana, Wednesday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at 6:57 p.m. that a cruise ship passenger was suffering from symptoms similar to a heart attack. SAN FRANCISCO — Coast Guard and local fire department crews are searching for a kayaker who went missing near the Dumbarton Bridge Tuesday afternoon. The missing kayaker has been identified as Kenneth Maldanado of San Jose. Maldanado is described as a 32-year-old Hispanic male, bald, with a goatee. Maldanado’s friend was on a raft nearby when he went missing and subsequently called the Coast Guard at approximately 4:30 p.m., reporting that Maldanado had capsized his kayak near the Dumbarton Bridge and did not resurface.... MILWAUKEE – The Coast Guard is urging residents and people recreating on the bay of Green Bay to use caution during ice breaking operations scheduled for Thursday. The Coast Guard Cutter Mobile Bay is scheduled to break ice and create a track from Rock Island Passage to the Menominee Entrance in support of the scheduled arrival of a vessel into the Port of Marinette. ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— The Coast Guard rescued 16 boaters Saturday and reminds boaters to stay safe during inclement weather predicted to impact the west coast of Florida this week. Due to multiple factors, predominately weather, Coast Guard crews responded to six search-and-rescue calls Saturday saving three lives and assisting 13 more.
