MIAMI — The Coast Guard suspended their search at 5:44 p.m. Friday for a man who fell overboard from the Independence of the Seas cruise ship. Nathaniel Skokan, 22, was reportedly seen going overboard from the 12th deck Thursday. "We want to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Skokan" said Chris Eddy, search and rescue technical specialist at the Coast Guard 7th District. LOS ANGELES - The Coast Guard warns boaters of a severe weather warning including a small craft and high surf advisory issued by NOAA.The small craft advisory is for the east Santa Barbara Channel from Point Conception to Point Mugu, including Santa Cruz Island and inner waters from Point Mugu to San Mateo Point, including Santa Catalina and Anacapa Islands. BOSTON — U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Escanaba returned home Friday after a 65-day patrol in the North Atlantic. The 100-member crew was tasked with enforcing federal and international fishery laws as well as conducting homeland security operations.  The crew of the Escanaba conducted 61 living marine resource boardings ensuring the sustainability of resources in the North Atlantic. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders received a report at 3:25 a.m. that Cesar Matutina had sustained a hand injury aboard the motor vessel. MIAMI — The Coast Guard repatriated 136 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, since Saturday. The Coast Guard Cutter Charles David Jr. crew repatriated 53 Cuban migrants Saturday and 83 Cuban migrants Monday. These repatriations are a result of eight separate at-sea migrant interdictions in the South Florida Straits.
