WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Coast Guard is notifying mariners Saturday about several areas on the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AICW) in North Carolina where shoaling poses a hazard to navigation.Mariners are advised that shoaling hazards exist at AICW mile markers 237, 271, 280 and 321. BOSTON — The crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Spencer fought the frigid weather today as they prepared to get underway from Coast Guard Base Boston for a training exercise.
The crew wore cold weather gear to keep warm and protect them against the cold and wind. The temperature was around 8 degrees Fahrenheit at the time they were preparing to leave.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The U.S. Coast Guard plans to analyze comments received in response to the Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) titled "Anchorage Grounds; Lower Chesapeake Bay, Cape Charles, VA, (81 FR 22939)" released on April 19, 2016, to better understand public sentiment and concerns regarding the proposed rulemaking.
The Coast Guard published the ANPRM to raise awareness and solicit feedback, and has since received 34 comments from interested parties including commercial maritime professionals and residents within the Cape Charles area.... [Read More]

MIAMI — The Coast Guard Cutter Charles David Jr. repatriated 14 Cuban migrants Monday to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba.
This repatriation is the result of an at-sea migrant interdiction in the South Florida Straits. The Coast Guard helped secure the U.S. border and prevented this sea voyage from ending in tragedy.... [Read More]

HONOLULU — The Coast Guard suspended the active search Thursday at 11 a.m. for a possible fisherman missing near the break wall in Hilo on the Big Island.
“Making the decision to suspend a search never gets easier," said Capt. Michael Long, commander, Coast Guard Sector Honolulu. "We extend our thanks to our partners in the Hawaii County Fire Department for their support and time on this search.”
Responders conducted a total of 17 searches covering 138 square miles over a span of 32 hours.... [Read More]

Watch standers at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg Command Center received a call at 2:05 p.m. from the crew of the Fish Box, stating their captain developed symptoms of a heart attack.
