SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico – The crew of a Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter rescued a distressed surfer Tuesday morning just off Wilderness Beach in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.
The rescued surfer was reported to be a U.S. citizen on vacation in Puerto Rico.
The surfer was initially located by the crew of a Coast Guard helicopter from Air Station Borinquen that was flying a training mission when they noticed the surfer had drifted significantly offshore and appeared to be in distress.... [Read More]

MIAMI – The Coast Guard medevacked a 66-year-old woman Sunday from the Carnival Conquest cruise ship 27 miles north of Cat Island, Bahamas.
Watchstanders at the Seventh Coast Guard District Command Center received a call from the crew of the Conquest stating one of the passengers developed symptoms of a stroke. NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a 35-year-old African American male in the water near the Causeway Bridge in Lake Pontchartrain, Louisiana, Sunday.
The Coast Guard and local agencies searched approximately 125 nautical miles in Lake Pontchartrain. The case was suspended at 7:55 p.m., Sunday.

BOSTON — A Coast Guard aircrew from Air Station Cape Cod medevaced a 24-year-old-man Sunday afternoon from the fishing vessel Athena, which was located approximately 115 miles east of Provincetown.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at approximately 10:59 p.m. that the male fell into the water after a motorcycle accident on the Causeway Bridge.

MIAMI — The Coast Guard repatriated 63 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, since Dec. 2.
The Coast Guard Cutter Paul Clark crew repatriated six Cuban migrants Monday and another 57 Cuban migrants Friday.
These repatriations are a result of five separate at-sea migrant interdictions in the South Florida Straits. In each instance, the Coast Guard helped secure the U.S. border and prevented these sea voyages from ending in tragedy.... [Read More]

JUNEAU, Alaska— Coast Guard crews suspended their search for two mariners, Thursday.
A Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew and four good Samaritan boat crews began the search after the sinking of motor vessel Exito 14 miles northeast of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, Tuesday evening.
Three of the five people on board the vessel were located by the good Samaritan crew of the Afognac Strait. The men were brought on board the vessel and transferred to Dutch Harbor.... [Read More]

Coast Guard suspends search for missing boater off Big Island
HONOLULU — The Coast Guard suspended the active search Wednesday at sunset for the boater missing off the Big Island.
Derek Liu, 52, remains missing.

A hoax caller somewhere between Seaside, Ore., and Chinook, Wash., has been relaying false distress calls to the Coast Guard since April 2016.The hoax caller has made 22 false distress calls, and the Coast Guard is seeking the public's help in finding the person making the illegal calls.
