NEW YORK - The Coast Guard and partner agencies are searching for two missing people in the water near Wading River, New York, Saturday. At approximately 3:30 p.m., watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound received a report of three males who slipped into the water while fishing on the rocks near Wading River. PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard rescued three fishermen and a dog Saturday after their vessel became disabled and ran aground two miles off Wachapreague Inlet. Watchstanders in the Sector Hampton Roads Command Center in Portsmouth received notification at 2:42 a.m. Saturday that the 60-foot commercial fishing vessel Storm was soft aground near Wachapreague Inlet with three people and a dog aboard.  The vessel freed itself, however two hours later the crew discovered serious damage to the rudder along with flooding.... PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Captain of the Port (COTP) Hampton Roads set Port Condition Yankee Friday for the Port of Virginia in preparation for the weather impacts of Tropical Storm Hermine.The Port of Virginia was closed to all inbound and outbound vessels at the entrance to the the Chesapeake Bay at 6 a.m. Saturday and was originally set to open at 11:59 p.m. Saturday. Coast Guard Station Fire Island received a report of a kite surfer that was in distress and being pushed off shore near Democrat Point. A 47-foot Motor Lifeboat Crew was launched to search for the kite surfer. The crew located the surfer and rescued him from the water.... [Read More]

NEW YORK — Coast Guard Captain of the port, Capt. Michael Day set Port Condition Whiskey for the Port of New York in preparation for the anticipated weather impact of Hurricane Hermine, Saturday. MIAMI — The Coast Guard is searching for a man Friday approximately 500 yards north of Belle Island in Miami Beach. Missing is Tyron Robertson, 22. Robertson was on a 17-foot rental boat when he reportedly entered the water and failed to resurface.
