MOBILE, Ala. - The Coast Guard has mobilized resources and personnel to respond to people in distress and assess waterway impact from Hurricane Hermine.Aircraft, prepositioned out of harm's way prior to the storm, are on scene in western Florida and affected areas to conduct search-and-rescue operations and then assess the status of ports and waterways.The Coast Guard, coordinating with federal, state and local response partners, is taking reports and prioritizing initial response to protect life and property.Hermine is located approximately 35 miles north of Valdosta, Georgia.... SAN FRANCISCO — U.S. Coast Guard Sector San Francisco responded Thursday to a mayday call from the 50-foot sport fishing vessel New Seeker. The call, received at approximately 4:30 p.m., reported that the vessel was taking on water in the vicinity of Kirby Cove near the Golden Gate Bridge.  Coast Guard Station Golden Gate and Marin County Fire Department immediately launched rescue boats and safely removed 13 passengers and two crewmembers from the vessel. TAMPA, Fla. –  The Coast Guard has set Port Condition ZULU for ports Tarpon Springs and north as gale-force winds from Hurricane Hermine threaten to impact the area within 12 hours.  Capt. U.S. Coast Guard photo HONOLULU — The Coast Guard rescued a 56-year-old man after his 24-foot fishing vessel capsized approximately 12 miles west of Kikiaola Harbor, Kauai, Thursday. HONOLULU — The Coast Guard Captain of the Port opened the Hawaii County ports Thursday morning and cargo operations have resumed. Tropical Storm Madeline is expected to continue to move west and degrade. NEW YORK - The Coast Guard will extend the opportunity for public comment on the Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (ANPRM) titled "Anchorage Grounds, Hudson River; Yonkers, NY, to Kingston, NY, (81 FR 37168)." The extension changes the initial comment deadline from Sept. 7, 2016 to Dec. 6, 2016. DETROIT — As the summer boating season comes to an unofficial end Labor Day weekend, the Coast Guard urges the boating public to remain vigilant while enjoying the Great Lakes during the offseason.  Between May 27, 2016, and Aug. 31, 2016, Coast Guard Sector Detroit personnel responded to 359 search and rescue cases, and during that time, 18 people died.
