LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a diver after he was reported to be experiencing stroke like symptoms near Santa Barbara Island, Tuesday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach operations center received a call at 9:40 a.m., from the commercial dive vessel Peace, reporting that an individual aboard was experiencing stroke like symptoms. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —The U.S. Coast Guard medevacked a man Monday who was experiencing severe head pain 238 miles east of St. Augustine. A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Clearwater medevacked the 62-year-old man from the vessel Miss Simona. Coast Guard 7th District Command Center watchstanders were notified Monday of the vessel’s captain experiencing severe head pain and collapsing. Four Coast Guard auxiliarists and two Auxiliary Flotillas were honored Saturday at the Auxiliary National Convention held in Phoenix, Arizona. Ronald Zwicky, of Auxiliary Flotilla 1-18 located in Oahu, Hawaii, was formally recognized as the 2015 Coast Guard Auxiliarist of the Year.
