SEATTLE — The Coast Guard suspended the search for the 81-year-old man who went missing after reportedly going overboard on the ferry Kennewick, Thursday evening.
Coast Guard air and boat crews and local agencies searched the area near Whidbey Island for approximately 12 hours, covering a 300-mile radius.

MIAMI — The Coast Guard repatriated 55 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, since Aug. 12.
The Coast Guard Cutter Isaac Mayo crew repatriated 36 Cuban migrants Tuesday, and the Coast Guard Cutter Bernard C. Webber crew repatriated 19 Cuban migrants Thursday.
These repatriations are a result of four separate at-sea migrant interdictions in the South Florida Straits. In each instance the Coast Guard helped secure the U.S. border and prevented these sea voyages from ending in tragedy.... [Read More]

CAPE MAY, N.J. – A recruit who passed away while attending basic training was honored, Friday, during the graduation ceremony for his recruit company at Coast Guard Training Center Cape May.
Seaman Recruit Aaron Redd became an honorary graduate of recruit-company Delta 193.

MIAMI — The Coast Guard rescued two people from a downed Piper Seneca aircraft Friday at 11:45 a.m. about 23-miles west of Fort Lauderdale.
An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station Miami was in the area, heard the radio call and diverted from their patrol. The crew arrived on scene around 11:55 a.m., hoisted the two individuals and transported them to awaiting emergency medical services at the air station with no reported injuries.

SEATTLE — The vessel of the deceased mariner, 74-year-old Clifford Dopps, washed ashore near the Olympic National Park, Thursday. Dopps' body was never recovered, as was previously reported.

SEATTLE— Coast Guard crewmembers and local agencies are searching for a person who went into the water near Whidbey Island, Thursday.
The missing person is an 81-year-old male from Poulsbo who is 5’9” and was last seen wearing a t-shirt and light pants.

A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka MH-60 crewmember hoists two wilderness guides mauled by a bear on the Sitkoh Creek Trail while leading a group of 20 passengers from the cruise vessel Wilderness Explorer approximately 30 miles north of Sitka, Alaska, Thursday, Aug. 18, 2016.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — The Coast Guard suspended the search Thursday for an Ocala boater reported missing off Horseshoe Beach.Mitchell Szegi, 47, departed in a 22-foot fishing boat at noon Sunday from Horseshoe Beach and was scheduled to return Sunday night.

Marine Inspectors from Marine Safety Unit (MSU) Portland conduct a field dry dock examination, Wednesday, to educate and train the towing vessel community on new regulatory standards that will come into force in the summer of 2018.
The information session held at MSU Portland was the second in a series of national outreach forums designed to educate towing vessel operators on the new regulations, referred to as “Subchapter M.”

NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard rescued an additional two people due to flooding in the Baton Rouge, Louisiana, area Wednesday evening.
Coast Guard crews, under the coordination of Coast Guard Sector New Orleans, are operating in support of the state of Louisiana, the Governor's office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and the Louisiana National Guard.

BOSTON — The Coast Guard transferred a 70-year old injured man Wednesday from Star Island, New Hampshire after he suffered a hand injury while on his sailboat.
At about 5:07 p.m., watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Portsmouth Harbor took the initial call from Rockingham County dispatch who requested the transport.

DULUTH, Minn. — The Twin Ports will host the Tall Ships Duluth Festival from Thursday through Sunday, and the U.S. Coast Guard has established and will enforce a safety zone around each tall ship participating in the festival while navigating on the Great Lakes.
