BOSTON – The crew of Coast Guard Cutter Tahoma is scheduled to host a change of command ceremony Thursday at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Who: Cmdr. Timothy T. Brown will assume the responsibilities as commanding officer of Coast Guard Cutter Tahoma from Cmdr. Willie L. Carmichael. Brown will assume the command of the Tahoma after serving as the Coast Guard Academy’s planning officer since 2013. SEATTLE – A Coast Guard Station Seattle boatcrew assisted Bainbridge Island Police officers in the arrest of a Bellevue man for boating while under the influence in Elliot Bay Sunday night. The Station Seattle crew aboard a 45-foot Response Boat Medium was able to make contact with the impaired boat driver and tow his vessel to Eagle Harbor on Bainbridge Island where he failed a field sobriety test conducted by Bainbridge Island Police officers and was subsequently taken into custody.... NEW YORK — A Coast Guard boatcrew from Station Fire Island rescued two people after their personal watercraft capsized near Democrat Point, New York, at approximately 12:10 p.m. Saturday. A nearby Coast Guard boatcrew was immediately diverted after receiving a report of the incident from a passing mariner who notified the Coast Guard via VHF-FM marine radio channel 16. CLEVELAND — The U.S. Coast Guard captain of the port, Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan, gave the motor vessel Roger Blough permission Saturday to transit down the St. Marys River to anchorage in Potagannissing Bay in the vicinity of DeTour Village, Michigan.  The Blough had been anchored in Waiska Bay in Lake Superior since June 4 after grounding on Gros Cap Reef May 27.
