BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard responded to a report of a boat fire Friday at the fuel pier of Bowley’s Marina in Galloway Creek near Middle River. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Maryland-National Capital Region received a report at approximately 11 a.m. from Baltimore County Fire Department dispatch stating a 35-foot boat was on fire at Bowley’s Marina. Sector Maryland-NCR issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched a 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew from Coast Guard Station Stillpond to respond.... [Read More]

BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard is scheduled to establish a temporary regulated area Sunday near the Bay Bridge and Kent Island for the Great Chesapeake Bay Swim. The regulated area will be in effect from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and will limit or prohibit navigation by commercial and recreational waterway users during this time. Wilmington, N.C. — The Coast Guard and partner agencies are searching for a man Thursday in the Little Alligator River near Fort Landing.Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector North Carolina command center in Wilmington were notified around noon that a 17-foot skiff was found traveling in circles unmanned.An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew out of Coast Guard Air Station Elizabeth City launched to search along with two North Carolina Marine Patrol crews and one Tyrell County Fire Department boat crew.Crews remain on scene searching.... CLEVELAND — A Coast Guard response to a report of a disabled vessel in Lake Michigan Wednesday evening just north of Pentwater, Michigan, resulted in the operator being taken into custody by local police for boating under the influence when alcohol testing revealed his blood alcohol content was 0.194. Arthur Dennis Velasco, 78, from Treasure Island, Florida, went missing Sunday morning after falling off a 32-foot sail boat. NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard and Grand Isle Fire Department are searching for a missing person off the beach near Grand Isle, Tuesday evening.  Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector New Orleans command center received a call, around 6:35 p.m., reporting an adult male went missing after attempting to assist two children in the water.
