ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— The Coast Guard is searching for a 78-year old man in the water 15 miles northwest of Anclote Key, Florida, Sunday. Missing is Arthur Velasco, 78, from Treasure Island, Florida. At 5 a.m. watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a call via VHF-FM marine band radio channel 16 from Alan Schaller from Inglis, Florida aboard a 32-foot sail boat. Schaller was unable to recover Velasco from the water after Velasco had fallen off the sailboat. Velasco entered the water without a life jacket.... [Read More]

BRUNSWICK, Ga. — The Coast Guard is searching for a 63-year-old man when it was reported that he hadn't returned from a fishing trip and an initial search discovered his unmanned boat off Blythe Island, Georgia, Saturday.  Missing is Charles Johnson, 63. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Charleston were notified of the situation by Johnson's wife at 3 p.m., on Saturday, reporting that he hadn't returned from a fishing trip he had planned off Brunswick on Friday.... ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— The Coast Guard rescued five people from a disabled 28-foot fishing boat 60 miles northwest of Chassahowitzka River, Florida, Saturday. At 3:07 p.m. watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a call via VHF-FM marine band radio channel 16 from the captain of the fishing boat, Doggie Style, relaying a distress call from five people aboard the disabled 28-foot fishing boat, Bite Me. PHILADELPHIA — The Coast Guard medevaced a man Saturday from a vessel about 40 miles east of Cape May, New Jersey. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia received notification at approximately 4 p.m. from the crew aboard the vessel Explorer that a 70-year-old man was involved in a dive incident after the man missed decompression. JUNEAU, Alaska — The Coast Guard is investigating the allision of the cruise ship Celebrity Infinity with a pier in Ketchikan, Alaska, Friday. Coast Guard investigators from Marine Safety Detachment Ketchikan were called to the scene after the Celebrity Infinity allided with the #3 berth at the Ketchikan cruise ship dock. Watchstanders at the Sector Juneau command center were alerted of the accident by the ship's pilot Friday afternoon.  No injuries or pollution were reported as a result of the allision.... ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a missing 54-year-old man near Steinhatchee, Florida, Friday. Edward Viola, 54, from Steinhatchee went missing Sunday evening after entering the water to fix engine troubles on his 15-foot boat. The Coast Guard searched 2,321 square nautical miles during 24 searches for over 62 hours. "Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of Edward," said Capt.
