LOS ANGELES – The Coast Guard has officially confirmed two vessel were involved in an incident off San Pedro. Two separate aircraft have been confirmed as being involved in an incident of a possible radar collision by the Federal Aviation Association. Los Angeles Police Department divers have begun an underwater recovery operation. LOS ANGELES – The Coast Guard is investigating a report of two downed aircraft near San Pedro, Calif. Wacthstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles/ Long Beach received initial notification from a bystander of a small aircraft entering the water at approximately 3 p.m. The Coast Guard immediately launched a 45-foot Response Boat- Medium from Coast Guard Station Los Angeles/ Long Beach along with a MH-65 from Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles to investigate the area of notifiaction, along with assets from several partner agencies.... BALTIMORE — The Unified Command continues to respond to reports of oil sheens Friday in the Potomac River near Arlington, Virginia. Containment boom and sorbent sweeps placed at an outfall in the vicinity of Roaches Run Waterfowl Sanctuary over night. There have been no other potential discharges observed by any of the response personnel. PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard removed transit restrictions Friday on the Thimble Shoals Channel between buoys 1 and 2, and Anchorage C. At 2:02 p.m. Thursday, Fifth District Coast Guard watchstanders were notified a vessel being towed by McAllister Towing of Virginia Inc. and buoy 11 allided.
