NEW LONDON. Conn. – As part of African American History Month, the Coast Guard Academy will hold the 2016 Gospel Explosion at the Academy's Leamy Hall Auditorium Feb. 6. The Gospel Explosion begins at 5 p.m. and features performances by Krystal A. Livingston, the Pentecostal Tabernacle Praise Company, and the New London Community Choir. This event is free and open to the public. There is no snow date for this event.

There were three vehicles, five passengers and six crew members aboard the ferry at the time of the grounding.A 24-foot Special Purpose Craft-Shallow Water crew launched from Station Hatteras Inlet and arrived on scene to remove passengers from the ferry and to take them to Hatteras Ferry Terminal in Hatteras.... Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Mobile were notified that a 36-foot recreational fishing vessel with five people aboard was taking on water 47 miles south of Dauphin Island at 12:08 p.m. The watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Station Dauphin Island 45-foot Response Boat –Medium and crew and an Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry fixed wing aircraft crew to assist....
