CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard seized 3,249 pounds of illegal catch from three Mexican fishing boats poaching in waters off South Padre Island early Friday morning.

NEW ORLEANS — The Coast Guard has issued a number of river closures, restrictions and advisories in response to floods in the midwest.
To keep the public and professional mariners apprised of changes to river traffic, the 8th District will continue to issue press releases capturing all closures and restrictions throughout this period of high water and flooding.

The security zone will be in effect from 9 a.m. Tuesday until 2 a.m. Wednesday, which will limit or prohibit navigation by commercial and recreational boaters.... [Read More]

Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan — The Coast Guard is urging people to use extreme caution when venturing onto the ice across Lake Superior, St. Marys River, and the northern parts of lakes Michigan and Huron with the forecasted rain and snow predicted this weekend.

MIAMI — The Coast Guard has repatriated 216 Cuban migrants to Bahia de Cabañas, Cuba, within the past week.These repatriations are a result of 18 separate migrant interdictions at sea in the south Florida Straits. ATLANTIC BEACH, N.C. — The Coast Guard assisted in rescuing 217 sea turtles Thursday with National Park Service personnel off beaches along the Outer Banks.
U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Cushing watchstanders were notified at 11 a.m. Thursday by National Park Service personnel assistance was needed in transporting cold-shocked sea turtles to warmer waters. The beached species included Loggerhead, Green and Kemp's Ridley sea turtles.... [Read More]

BOSTON — Coast Guard crews from Stations Woods Hole and Menemsha towed the 65-foot fishing vessel Leonardo, with six people aboard, Wednesday when it became disabled after running aground in Woods Hole Pass.
