LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 23-year-old man from the USS Princeton, a Navy guided missile cruiser approximately 30 miles south of Point Conception, Tuesday.
At 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles/Long Beach command center received a report that a male aboard the Navy ship was experiencing symptoms of appendicitis. The District 11 flight surgeon recommended that the sailor be medically evacuated.... [Read More]

Watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector San Francisco Command Center received a call at 3:28 p.m., from Emergency Services requesting assistance in rescuing a man waving for help near a disabled boat 200 yards offshore of Doran beach.

MIAMI — The Coast Guard continues to respond to the loss of containers from the barge Columbia Elizabeth, which reported losing multiple containers between Cape Canaveral and Palm Beach, Florida, Sunday.

Andrew Lasek departed from the southwest corner of Sturgeon Point Marina, N.Y., at 12:40 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6, 2015, in a blue kayak with blue paddles to go fishing, likely for perch.
He was last heard from right before departing the marina.

PORTSMOUTH, Va. – The Coast Guard is scheduled to hold a training exercise Tuesday at Base Portsmouth.
The drill is scheduled to run from 8-11 a.m., and will include Portsmouth police and fire units along with Coast Guard personnel.
Traffic to and from the base may be disrupted until noon.
Citizens in the area can expect an increase in law enforcement presence.

SAN FRANCISCO — The Coast Guard is urging boaters and beachgoers to exercise caution in and around the waters along the Northern and Central California coast due to forecasted strong swells Sunday night through Tuesday morning.
Exceptionally strong rip currents and large shore breaks are anticipated to impact all west and northwest facing beaches from Sonoma County to Monterey County. MIAMI — An 88-year-old man was rescued by a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from the Carnival Victory cruise ship northwest of Cuba Sunday.
Rescued was Herman Steidel Lebron, 88, from Puerto Rico.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard 7th District command center received the report from the Victory stating Lebron suffered internal injuries during the cruise. After consulting with the flight surgeon, he was recommended for medical evacuation.... [Read More]
