BOSTON — Coast Guard members from Station Point Allerton and Station Boston participated in firearms training at a range on Joint Base Cape Cod, Tuesday.  Members trained with a variety of weapons. Coast Guard law enforcement crews are required to complete these courses every six months to maintain the ability to safely handle the weapons. CAPE MAY, N.J. – Recruits from Coast Guard Training Center Cape May are scheduled to spend Thanksgiving with residents of South Jersey, Thursday, as part of Operation Fireside. Approximately 100 host families have volunteered to open their homes to the service’s newest volunteers this Thanksgiving in the Red Cross’ 35th annual Operation Fireside program. JUNEAU, Alaska — A Coast Guard Air Station Sitka MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew medevaced a 70-year-old man who fell from a 30-foot cliff near Juneau, Alaska, Tuesday. The Jayhawk crew transferred the injured man to awaiting emergency medical service personnel in Juneau. Coast Guard Sector Juneau command center watchstanders received a call from the Juneau Police Department reporting that a man had sustained a head injury after falling off of a cliff in the vicinity of Funter Bay, approximately 200-yards from the state dock, and requested assistance.... Courtesy photo. HONOLULU — The Coast Guard is seeking the public's help identifying the owner of a kayak found adrift 100 yards west of Mokolea Rock, Oahu, Sunday. The two-person kayak is 10 to 12 feet long with red coloring on the inside and yellow-orange on the exterior.
