MIAMI – Coast Guard crews continue searching for possible survivors from the cargo ship El Faro Tuesday morning, which is believed to have sunk during Hurricane Joaquin.
Crews have searched a total of 160,574 square nautical miles while searching in the vicinity of the ship's last known position 35 nautical miles northeast of Crooked Islands, Bahamas.

CLEVELAND — The U.S. Coast Guard and several good Samaritans rescued eight people out of the water at the mouth of the Niagara River Sunday afternoon.
The names of the people rescued are not being released and there are no photos or video associated with this case.
Just before 3 p.m., watchstanders at the Coast Guard Sector Buffalo, New York, command center were notified of a capsized 43-foot sail boat at the mouth of the Niagara River with multiple people in the water. ... [Read More]

LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 46-year-old man from a 738-foot container ship approximately 6 miles south of Santa Rosa Island, Sunday.
At 10:01 a.m., Sunday, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles/Long Beach command center received a report from the crew of the container ship Isla Bella that a crewmember aboard received severe burns from his knees down to his feet, after cooking oil spilled, covering his legs.... MIAMI – Coast Guard search and rescue crews continue searching in the Caribbean Sea for the El Faro cargo ship Sunday, covering a total search area of more than 70,000 square nautical miles.
Various objects have been located in the vicinity of the ship's last known position 35 nautical miles northeast of Crooked Islands, Bahamas. Life jackets, life rings, containers and an oil sheen were located by Coast Guard aircrews within a 225 square nautical mile search area.
