HONOLULU — The Coast Guard has suspended the search for the owner of an unmanned yellow kayak found offshore of Olowalu, Maui, after the owner contacted the Coast Guard Sector Command Center to claim it, Sunday. Watchstanders at the Sector Honolulu Command Center received a report at 1:30 a.m., today from the owner of the kayak stating he saw the press release about the craft's discovery online. The man was able to give a detailed account and made arrangements to pick it up at Coast Guard Station Maui.... [Read More]

GRAND ISLE, La. – The Coast Guard rescued six individuals from a 22-foot recreational boat that reportedly capsized approximately 14 miles north of Grand Isle in Barataria waterway, Sunday. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders were notified by Grand Isle Police Department of a 911 call from a sinking recreational vessel with six people on board. Watchstanders directed the launch of a 24-foot response boat crew from Coast Guard Station Grand Isle. The boat crew was able to locate all six individuals within 20 minutes.... [Read More]

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans watchstanders were notified of the injured mariner by the captain of the vessel. Watchstanders directed the launch of a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans. Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile also assisted in the rescue by providing an Ocean Sentry airplane.... [Read More]
