NORTH BEND, Ore. — Coast Guard crews are searching for four people aboard a vessel reported overdue off the coast of Winchester Bay, Thursday. An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Air Station North Bend is searching for Tennessee residents Jim Jackson, Michael Jackson and two children. A Coast Guard Auxiliary aircrew conducted a first light search today and did not find anyone in distress. PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard has suspended the search for a missing crew member Wednesday between Bayonne, New Jersey, and Ocean City, Maryland. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Hampton Roads received notification at approximately 4:30 p.m. from the 600-foot, Marshall Islands–flagged freight ship Ibrahim Dede of a missing crew member. The crew member was last reported aboard after departing Bayonne, New Jersey. The crew discovered the man was missing while the ship was in transit to its next port.... [Read More]

PADUCAH, Ky. — The U.S. Coast Guard closed a portion of the Ohio River due to construction on Lock and Dam 52, Wednesday. The Ohio River is closed to all vessel traffic at Lock 52, mile marker 939, near Paducah, Kentucky. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has begun raising the wickets on the dam. The Coast Guard urges mariners to monitor VHF-FM channels 16 and 22. Mariners can also contact the lockmaster at 618-564-3151 for information about the closure.   ... [Read More]
