PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The U.S. Coast Guard is searching Tuesday with a research vessel crew for a person in the water approximately 1,500 miles southeast of Bermuda. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg responded to 12 search and rescue calls over the weekend. MUSKEGON, Mich., — The Coast Guard is urging people to stay away and off of ice, and to remain at a safe distance from ice formations, especially the ice caves that have formed along Lake Michigan in Muskegon. BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard rescued a man from the water Sunday in Duvall Creek in Annapolis. Local police contacted watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Baltimore at about 10:15 a.m. to report a sailboat capsized, leaving one person in the water. The man in the water initially used his cell phone to call 911. A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Annapolis was already underway and diverted to respond to the distress. MIAMI - The Coast Guard is involved in two separate cases, each involving a male being swept to sea by rip currents in South Florida Saturday. Coast Guard Sector Miami was notified of a 15-year old male who was swept to sea in North Palm Beach, Florida, near McArthur State Park.
