MELBOURNE, Fla. — The boat belonging to a man reported missing was found, Monday, off the coast of Satellite Beach in Melbourne as the search for the man continues.
Missing is Lloyd Chamberlain, 38, resident of Merit Island, Florida.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Station Port Canaveral received a phone call at approximately 10 p.m., Sunday, from the friend of the missing man. He reported that he was scheduled to return by dusk, but had not returned home.
After pinging his cellphone, his boat was located, but he was not aboard.
The Coast Guard is currently searching the area between Jetty Park and Satellite Beach with a 45-foot Response Boat — Medium from Station Port Canaveral and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Station Clearwater. Also assisting in the search are assets and personnel from the Brevard County Sheriff's Office and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
