
NEW YORK - A Coast Guard crew responded to a person who had fallen in the water near Compton Creek, New Jersey, today.At 2:47 p.m., Coast Guard Aids-to-Navigation Team (ANT) New York rescued an individual who had fallen off his kayak.ANT crewmembers aboard a 26-foot trailerable aids-to-navigation boat from Bayonne, New Jersey, were conducting routine service and inspections to fixed aids-to-navigation, when they witnessed the kayaker enter the water.
After rescuing the mariner, the ANT crew contacted the Coast Guard Sector New York command center watchstanders.
Sector New York contacted a Middletown, New Jersey, emergency medical service, which arranged to meet ANT at the Belford Pier in Belford, New Jersey, for medical evaluation of the rescued individual.
After examining the kayaker, EMS reported there were no medical concerns and no further assistance was required. ANT New York resumed their patrol.
