Coast Guard attends 39th annual Silver Bell Awards Dinner ***photo release***

NEW YORK — U.S. Coast Guard Adm. Charles D. Michel, Vice Commandant of the Coast Guard, attended the 39th annual Silver Bell Awards Dinner in New York, Thursday.

Adm. Michel presented the Seamen’s Church Institute Lifesaving Award to the Hellenic Coast Guard, the Italian Coast Guard and the Italian Navy, honoring their courage and compassion in assisting migrants and refugees on the Mediterranean Sea.

The Seamen’s Church Institute, a foundation that serves mariners through education, pastoral care and legal advocacy, hosted the dinner.
