Coast Guard Auxiliary hosting boating safety class

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Coast Guard Auxiliary is scheduled to host a boating safety class, Saturday, at the Fort Caroline Community Center, in Jacksonville.

The curriculum of the class will include introduction to boating, boating laws, safe and fun boating practices, navigation, emergencies and Florida-specific requirements.

The class is scheduled to go from 8 a.m., until 5 p.m. Costs for the class are $20 for an individual and $30 for two people that can share material. Additionally, the class meets the Florida state requirements for individuals born after Jan. 1, 1988 who wish to operate a boat or personal watercraft in the state of Florida.

Individuals wishing to attend the class are asked to RSVP by May 21.
