Coast Guard boatcrew medevacs man suffering with chest pains

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida — A Coast Guard boatcrew medevaced a 57-year-old man from a 36-foot boat, Friday, when it was reported he was experiencing chest pains, 8 miles east of Port Canaveral.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville received the initial report at approximately 7:30 a.m. stating that a man aboard a recreational fishing boat was suffering with severe chest pains and was in need of medical attention. Coast Guard Station Port Canaveral launched a boatcrew aboard a 45-foot Response Boat — Medium to assist. 

Upon arriving on scene, the boatcrew quickly brought the man aboard and transported him safely to the Jetty Park boat ramp where local EMS was standing by to transport him to Cape Canaveral Hospital.
