ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Coast Guard Sector Anchorage personnel will attend two pre-season guide meetings to speak about the new Restricted Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessel requirements June 3 and June 12.

The new regulations affect guides who drive boats with up to six paying passengers on freshwater rivers and lakes in Western Alaska.

Coast Guard personnel will attend the first meeting at the Commercial Use Authorization Holder Meeting for Katmai National Park and Preserve, Aniakchak National Monument and Preserve and Alagnak Wild River in King Salmon, Alaska, June 3.  The meeting will take place at the National Park Service office on the King Salmon Air Force Base in Building 603, directly across the street from Southwest Alaska Vocational & Education Center.  The National Parks Service agenda will run from 6p.m. until approximately 7:30p.m., when the Coast Guard’s segment will begin.

The Coast Guard will also attend a meeting near Dillingham at the Choggiung Ltd. Camp on the Nushagak River just below Portage Creek June 12.  The meeting will begin at 6:00pm.

A call-in number will not be available at either location.  However, guides and lodge owners who are affected by the change but cannot attend the meeting may contact Sector Anchorage at 907-428-4164 or brierley.k.ostrander@uscg.mil with any questions.
