An overturned Hobie Cat is found floating in Lake Superior about four miles northwest of Grand Marais, Mich., Aug. 5, 2015. The Coast Guard, searching with partnering agencies for a possible person in the water, is asking anyone with information about the vessel to contact the Sector Sault Ste. SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – The Coast Guard, Coast Guard Auxiliary and partnering agencies are currently searching for a possible person in the water in Lake Superior after an overturned Hobie Cat was found approximately four miles northwest of Grand Marais, Michigan.
The 16-foot sailing vessel, with a blue hull, black mast and while sails, was found at about 8 a.m. EST by a passing charter boat.
Crews from Coast Guard Air Station Traverse City and Coast Guard Station Marquette are currently searching. The Coast Guard Auxiliary, National Park Service and local police are also assisting in the search.
