LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 19-year-old man from a 65-foot sport-fishing vessel approximately one mile north of Santa Cruz Island, Saturday.
At 13:48 p.m., Saturday, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles/Long Beach command center received a report that a male boater aboard the sport-fishing vessel, Amigo, slipped, fell and had a three inch gash in his head. The boater was also reported to be seizing and unresponsive.
A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Los Angeles was immediately launched to assist the boater. The Dolphin crew safely hoisted the man aboard the helicopter and transferred him to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
