
SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 69-year-old woman from a cruise ship approximately 40 miles west of San Diego, Thursday.
At approximately 9:30 p.m., Thursday, the crew of the cruise ship Carnival Imagination requested assistance from Coast Guard Sector San Diego for a passenger who suffered a head injury from falling.
A Sector San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew immediately launched, arrived on scene and safely hoisted the woman.
At approximately 11:45, she was transported to awaiting emergency medical personnel at Sector San Diego who took her to UC San Diego Medical Center in Hillcrest.
Her condition is unknown.
