LOS ANGELES — The Coast Guard medically evacuated a 84-year-old man from a 951-foot cruise ship approximately 27 miles west of Santa Barbara, Saturday.
At 12 p.m., Saturday, watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles/Long Beach command center received a report that a passenger aboard the cruise ship, Grand Princess, was experiencing symptoms of an arterial aneurysm in his left leg and was in need of immediate medical attention.
A MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Air Station Los Angeles was immediately launched to assist. The Dolphin crew safely hoisted the man aboard the helicopter and transferred him to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.
