WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Coast Guard medevaced a 48-year-old man Monday suffering health complications southeast of Cape Hatteras.
Sector North Carolina watchstanders received a report at 7:40 a.m. from the Grandeur of the Sea cruise ship indicating a 48-year-old man aboard was suffering health complications.
A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched from Air Station Elizabeth City at 9 a.m. The helicopter crew met the cruise ship approximately 18 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras at 10:15 a.m. and hoisted the man and a ship's nurse.
The man and nurse were flown to CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern and arrived at 12:20 p.m where EMS personnel were waiting. He was last reported in stable condition.
