Coast Guard medevacs woman, 84, near Point Lookout State Park, Md.

BALTIMORE — The Coast Guard medevaced an 84-year-old woman suffering chest pains Monday while transiting near Patuxent River Naval Air Station.

Coast Guard Sector Baltimore watchstanders received a report Sunday at approximately 9:30 p.m. from a crewmemeber aboard the Carnival Pride cruise ship, indicating an 84-year-old woman aboard was suffering from chest pain.

A Coast Guard boat crew aboard a 45-foot Response Boat - Medium launched from Station St. Inigoes at 11 p.m. The crew met the ship at the mouth of the Potomac River near Point Lookout State Park at approximately 11:45 p.m. and transferred the woman and her sister.

The female and sister were transferred to Point Lookout Marina and arrived at approximately 12:30 a.m. where EMS personnel determined she needed to be airlifted by a Maryland State Police helicopter crew to MedStar Southern Maryland Hospital Center.
