COAST GUARD MEMBERS GO HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS

December 7, 2014

CAPE MAY, N.J.— The Stone Harbor American Legion Post 331 presented two Coast Guard members tickets home as part of their Home for the Holidays program during a ceremony held Sunday.

Petty Officer 3rd Class Cameron Hutchens and Seaman Betty Sciscoe submitted their names into a fishbowl in August and were randomly selected as the winners of the American Legion’s Home for the Holidays Program.

The program was created by members of the American Legion Post 331 and provided both Hutchens and Sciscoe rides to and from the airport and first-class travel accommodations to their hometowns.

“The command and the staff of Coast Guard Training Center Cape May are thankful that the American Legion brought this opportunity to our members,” said Chief Warrant Officer John Edwards, the training center’s public affairs officer. “A lot of Coast Guard men and women are far from home conducting front line Coast Guard missions during the holidays, and going home isn’t always an option, but these two members do get that opportunity thanks to the American Legion.”
