Coast Guard MIFC PAC holds change-of-command ceremony

June 10, 2015

ALAMEDA, Calif. — Capt. Ronald Pailliotet relieved Capt. Stephen H. Chamberlin and assumed command of the Coast Guard Maritime Intelligence Fusion Center Pacific during a change-of-command ceremony held at Base Alameda, Wednesday.

Vice Adm. Charles W. Ray, commander, Coast Guar Pacific Area, presided over the ceremony.

Prior to reporting to MIFC PAC, Pailliotet served at the 8th Coast Guard District as the chief of intelligence. His immediate previous assignment was as the Coast Guard attache to Venezuela at the U.S. Embassy in Caracas.

Chamberlin retired after completing 25 years of honorable service.

The change of command ceremony is a time-honored tradition and formal ritual conducted before the assembled company of a command to confirm to the men and women of the unit that the authority of command is maintained. The ceremony is a transfer of total responsibility, authority and accountability from one individual to another.

Headquartered in Alameda, MIFC PAC is responsible for providing tactical and operational intelligence to all Coast Guard Pacific Area units in a 74 million square-mile area of responsibility.
