NEW ORLEANS — A Coast Guard helicopter crew rescued two people from a small boat taking on water near Main Pass, Wednesday.
Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received notification at 2 p.m., that a 13-foot aluminum flat boat was taking on water near Quarantine Station in Main Pass on the Mississippi River with two people aboard. They directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and a Coast Guard Station Venice 29-foot Response Boat-Small boatcrew to locate and assist the boaters in distress.
The helicopter crew arrived on scene at 3:22 p.m., located the boaters and safely hoisted them. The rescue crew then took the boaters to the Chevron Helicopter Pad in Venice with no reported injuries.
