WILMINGTON, N.C. — The Coast Guard rescued two people Sunday from a vessel taking on water off the North Carolina coast.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina in Wilmington received a report from two people aboard the 50-foot pleasure craft Ticker Tape VI at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday, stating the boat was disabled and taking on water about 14 miles southeast of Wilmington.A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium (RBM) crew launched from Station Wrightsville Beach and an MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew launched from Air Station Elizabeth City.The RBM crew arrived on scene at about 1 a.m. Sunday, took the two people aboard, and brought them to Station Wrightsville Beach. The flooded vessel was left adrift with the navigation lights energized.No injuries were reported.
