August 14, 2015

MIAMI — Two people are safe after their single engine Cessna 172 aircraft made an emergency landing on a remote road west of Coral Springs, Florida early Friday.

An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Miami was diverted at 7:20a.m. to the investigate a reported aircraft in distress.  The Coast Guard helicopter was notified by Miami air traffic controllers who reported a private aircraft in need of assistance near the Everglades Wildlife Management Area. The Coast Guard crew flew to the aircraft’s last known position near national Everglades Park and located the plane on a dirt road.

The MH65 crew landed in the vicinity of the Cessna, picked up the two men from the airplane, and returned them to the Pompano Beach Executive Airport. Both men, who are from south Florida, were reported in good condition and did not suffer any injuries during the incident.
