HOUSTON — The Coast Guard coordinated with Sea Tow Monday afternoon, to assist six adults and two children off their boat that became grounded and began taking on water near Eagle Point.

"This is our third search and rescue case in 24 hours,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Christopher Kiener, watchstander at Sector Houston-Galveston. ”We've rescued a total of 12 adults and three children over this Labor Day weekend."

At 3:45 p.m., the operator of the 47-foot boat, Euphoria, called the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, reporting that the their boat had run aground off San Leon. The dispatcher then alerted Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders.

Watchstanders diverted a Station Galveston 45-foot response boat crew, a Station Houston 29-foot response boat crew and launched an Air Station Houston MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew to the scene.

The Coat Guard boats and aircraft arrived on scene around 4:15 p.m., and a nearby Sea Tow boat rendered assistance by ferrying all the passengers from the grounded boat to Station Houston's boat. They transferred them to Station Galveston's boat, who took them to the owner's dock in Nassau Bay. No injuries were reported.

An estimated 300 gallons of fuel is aboard the grounded boat and Sea Tow is coordinating salvage plans with the owner.
