NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, Vermilion and Iberia Parish Sheriff Offices are searching for a missing boater in Vermilion Bay, Thursday.
The missing boater is a 76-year-old male, described as Caucasian and having red hair, and blue eyes, wearing a blue button-up shirt, jeans, brown shoes and a brown hat.
Watchstanders with Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a call at approximately 12:23 p.m. reporting an overturned vessel with two boaters in the water. One boater was recovered with no reported injuries.
Watchstanders directed the launch of Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and a Coast Guard Marine Safety Unit Morgan City 29-foot Response Boat-Small crew to conduct searches.
