BOSTON — The Coast Guard is searching for an overdue kayaker near Swan's Island, Maine, Tuesday.
Missing is 18-year-old Jackson Day, who was last seen Tuesday at 10 a.m. in an 8-foot yellow kayak at Swan's Island Ferry Terminal.The Coast Guard Sector Northern New England Command Center in Portland received a call shortly before 8 p.m. from Day's mother, who said he was overdue from his trip.
He was reported to be wearing a hooded sweatshirt and shorts. He is about six feet tall, 160 pounds with short dark blond hair and blue eyes.Multiple authorities have joined the search including two 47-foot Motor Lifeboat crews from Coast Guard Station Southwest Harbor, an MH-60 Jayhawk Helicopter rescue crew from Air Station Cape Cod, Massachusetts, the local Sheriff's department, and the Maine Marine Patrol.Anyone with information about Day's whereabouts is urged to call the Sector Northern New England Command Center at 207-767-0303.
