Coast Guard searching for missing swimmer off Venice Beach Pier

LOS ANGELES –– The Coast Guard is actively searching for a 39 year-old-male, after the individual was reported missing after entering the water at 02:26 a.m., Saturday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received notification from Los Angeles County Life Guards of a possible missing swimmer off the Venice Beach Pier.

The individual reported missing is David Matthew Rose. He is reported as being a white male weighing approximately 240 pounds and 6 foot 3 inches in height.

The Coast Guard currently has a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Los Angeles-Long Beach, Coast Guard Cutter Blacktip, homeported in Ventura, and a MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Coast Guard Forward Operating Base Point Mugu searching for the individual, along with Baywatch Marina Del Rey and Los Angeles County Fire Boat 110 and Los Angeles County Fire Helicopter 19 assisting in the search.
