HONOLULU — The Coast Guard is searching for the crew of the sailing vessel Honeycutter, Sunday.
Missing are father and son, Frank and Joshua Gogolski, with friend Jerome Pascual.
The crew of a Coast Guard MH-65 Dolphin helicopter is currently searching for the three –man crew of the 36-foot blue and white sailboat. An Urgent Marine Information Broadcast has been issued alerting mariners in the area to keep a sharp lookout and report any sightings to the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu command center.
Watchstanders at the sector received a report at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, from a family member reporting the overdue. They immediately conducted callouts and issued the UMIB. At first light they launched the Dolphin crew from Air Station Barbers Point.
Anyone with information that may help locate the sailboat crew is asked to contact the Coast Guard Sector Honolulu Command Center at 808-842-2600.
The crew of the sailboat reportedly departed Rainbow Marina in Pearl Harbor on Oahu Friday. They planned to sail to Lahaina, Maui, where Pascual would depart and return to Oahu, while the Gogolski continued on to the West Coast. When Pascual failed to arrive at the airport Saturday night his wife called to report him missing. Honolulu Police Department personnel have also been alerted.
Weather conditions are currently reported as northeast winds at 12 – 17 mph with seas up to 6-feet and good visibility.
