SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Coast Guard is searching for a person in the water in the Savannah River, near the Fort Pulaski Bridge, Saturday.
Watchstanders in the Coast Guard Sector Charleston command center were notified of the situation at approximately 9:15 a.m. A good Samaritan reported the incident to a member from Coast Guard Station Tybee Island, Georgia. The initial report stated a boater was ejected from a 17-foot jon boat after an allision between his boat and the bridge.
Watchstanders issued an Urgent Marine Information Broadcast. A boatcrew from Station Tybee Island and a crew aboard a helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Savannah was launched to search.
Other agencies assisting in the search include members from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department Marine Patrol, and South End Fire Dive Rescue.
