LOS ANGELES – The Coast Guard is searching for an overdue vessel near Santa Cruz Island, Wednesday.Coast Guard watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Los Angeles-Long Beach received a call from Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol at 12:30 p.m., reporting that Honokai, a 27-foot ranger tug with two individuals aboard and possibly two dogs was overdue. The boaters departed Santa Barbara Friday, in route to Santa Cruz Island and were scheduled to return Monday. The reporting source contacted the Santa Barbara Harbor Patrol after one of the boaters did not show up for work.
A Coast Guard Air Station Los Angeles MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew is currently searching the area for the missing boaters.
The vessel is reported to have a green hull and a white deck.
