JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville was awarded the Category Two 2015 Rear Admiral Bennett “Bud” Sparks award by the Reserve Officers Association, June 7.

The award will be presented at the 2016 Reserve Officers Association National Symposium in Reno, Nevada, Sept. 12.

The Sparks award is named in honor of Rear Admiral Bennett "Bud" Sparks who served in the Coast Guard Reserve from 1942 to 1989. It is presented annually by the ROA to recognize the successful integration of reserve and active duty workforces to achieve overall readiness.

"Our reserve program has never been more critical to the Coast Guard than it is today," said Capt.
