HONOLULU — High school students throughout Oahu attended a science, technology, engineering and math exposition at Coast Guard Base Honolulu, Thursday.

Approximately 100 students from Kapolei High School, Mililani High School, Leilehua High School, Waialua High School, Farrington High School,  Kaiser High School and Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps cadets viewed Coast Guard boats and helicopters and interacted with Coast Guardsmen from various shore and afloat units.

The STEM program is a collaborative initiative to promote core technological fields and develop future innovators.

In addition to the STEM expo, the students viewed a search and rescue demonstration performed by a Coast Guard aircrew piloting an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Barbers Point. A rescue swimmer was deployed from the Dolphin and the crew hoisted him back into the helicopter.
