CAPE MAY, N.J. – Coast Guard Station Cape May personnel are scheduled to host a change-of-command ceremony, Friday.
During the ceremony, Lt. Scott L. Farr will transfer command and authority to Lt. Michelle M. Foster.
The change-of-command ceremony marks a transfer of total responsibility and authority from one individual to another. The ceremony is a time-honored tradition, conducted before the assembled crew, as well as honored guests and dignitaries in order to formally demonstrate the continuity of the authority within a command.
Foster will be reporting from Sector Humboldt Bay in northern California where she served as the unit’s Surface Operations Division Chief.
Following the ceremony, Farr will be at the Department of Homeland Security's Joint Task Force-East (JTF-E) located in Portsmouth, VA.
