NEW YORK — Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook crewmembers rescued six boaters off the coast of New Jersey during two separate cases, Friday night and Saturday morning.At approximately 9:45 p.m., Friday, sector New York watchstanders received a call with a report of a vessel with a disabled engine and three people aboard, 23 miles southeast of Sandy Hook, New Jersey.A Coast Guard Station Sandy Hook boat crew aboard a 47-foot Motor Lifeboat responded to the disabled 23-foot pleasure craft and arrived on scene at approximately 11:45 p.m.The crewmembers safely transferred the three people aboard the Coast Guard vessel, placed the disabled boat in a stern-tow and arrived at Atlantic Highlands Marina at approximately 5:30 a.m. Saturday. After the crew secured the vessel, a safety boarding was conducted with no violations reported.Later, at about at 10:50 a.m., Sector New York watchstanders received a call from the Atlantic Highlands police department of a vessel taking on water near Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey.

A Station Sandy Hook crew aboard a 29-foot Response Boat-Small launched and located three people wearing life jackets aboard the vessel in distress, two miles north of Atlantic Highlands. All three individuals were safely transferred aboard the Coast Guard smallboat.An Atlantic Highlands Fire Department and New York Fire Department boat crew arrived on scene to assist the disabled vessel. The Atlantic Highlands fire department boat crew were able to tow the vessel into the Atlantic Highlands Marina.
