JUNEAU, Alaska — Three federal employees were recognized at the Juneau Federal Executive Association Employee of the Year Awards Banquet and Ceremony in Juneau, Thursday.

During the ceremony, the JFEA Awards Committee presented the Community Service Award to Cindy Hartman Moore, National Marine Fisheries Service, the Professional Achievement Award to Dave Seris, Coast Guard, and the Administrative Excellence Award to Joanne Behrends, U.S. Forest Service.

“A common theme that runs through our agencies is a stellar commitment to protecting the public, the Last Frontier, and its natural resources for current and future generations,” said Rear Adm. Dan Abel, commander, Coast Guard 17th District and co-chair, JFEA Awards Committee. “The nominees were recognized for professional accomplishment, community service, and administrative excellence.”

The three recipients were chosen from 11 nominees who excelled in these categories.

“I was really impressed with the number and the quality of nominees Juneau had for our first Awards Banquet,” said Stephanie Halama, the port director for Juneau Customs and Border Patrol, JFEA co-chair. “We are proud of the outstanding people we have working for the Federal Government, and doing things within their job and outside of their job to make lives better in the community.”

“The Juneau Federal Executive Association members coordinate across all federal agencies in Juneau on training, safety, and employee recognition, to achieve budget savings while meeting agency missions,” said Beth Pendleton, Regional Forester for the Alaska Region, and co-chair, JFEA Awards Committee. “We look forward to building and growing this collaboration among agencies – supporting each other and building relationships through future events and activities.”

The JFEA is an organization of more than 27 local and principal federal agencies that employ nearly 700 personnel. Their mission is to be a catalyst for better government by working together for: effective communications; reduce costs and improve efficiency; facilitate service delivery; partner with the community and to coordinate emergency services in times of crisis.
